Ranma 1/2 (TV)

This! One of my favorite anime series of all time! Ranma 1/2 is, in summary, about a teenage martial artist, Saotome Ranma, who turns into a pig-tailed girl whenever he gets in contact with cold water while warm water changes him back into a guy again.

Ranma 1/2 is not for everyone I think. If you don’t have a sense of humor then this probably will not appeal to you (too bad), because it involves gender-bender, and is a true comedy at that with some little action and romance mixed in. (There are some slight violence and nudity, but nothing too explicit) The story doesn’t really go anywhere. It doesn’t focus on a main plot, but more on the development of the characters and their relationship with each other. Speaking of relationship, I find this anime to be weird but really interesting at the same time, especially with the crazy love triangles. It’s like everyone is in love with someone else! In Ranma’s case, he seems to attract both guys and girls (woah!). But hey! I’m not complaining here. I actually really enjoy it. I especially like the Ranma-Akane-Ryoga love triangle. (oh P-Chan..) Akane is such a tomboy, always fighting with Ranma which just makes it much more enjoyable to watch. I love it when Ranma gets jealous over Akane. Ryoga is a cool guy, but I’m pro Ranma on this. So I vote for Ranma-Akane. It’s obvious that they like each other.

Dragon Ball Z (Classic)

Dragon Ball Z! Wow! Where should I start? Well, I guess most of you already know about this anime series huh… (obviously) I mean, who doesn’t? It’s considered a classic comedy and action anime. Who could ever forget their “Kamehameha Waves”? Man.. It’s definitely a personal favorite of mine and probably most of yours too. Even though I’m a girl, *wink* I remember imitating the “Kamehameha Wave” move when I was still a kid. (Sigh.. Those were the days.)

It was actually kind of accidental on how I got started watching Dragon Ball Z. I had nothing to do and so was just watching TV. I was changing the channels when I stumble upon this anime. I didn’t know what it was at that time, but thought it was cool and interesting with all the character’s big muscles (yummy) and great fight scenes. After that, the rest is history. I got hooked and been a fan ever since.

To be honest, I haven’t actually watched the original Dragon Ball. I’m not really a fan of little Goku. (Hate me all you want, but it’s the truth) Among all the series, Dragon Ball Z is my favorite and is my first experience or taste with the Dragon Ball anime series. I like all the characters, but my favorite out of all would have to be Gohan. I can’t help it. He’s just really handsome and so dreamy (squeal). You see, when I’m going to watch an anime, I want it to be well drawn and the characters or at least the main characters to be good looking. Otherwise, I don’t care to watch it. Well, there are some exceptions, but I’d really prefer good-looking characters that can give life to a story. That’s just my opinion. I realize it’s the story that’s important (I know), but I don’t care. I’m different. :)

My First Anime

My first anime.. You’re probably thinking “Who cares?” Well I care! (Sorry.. I told you I’m weird). Anyway, I’m not sure what my first anime was. I think I’ve been watching them all the time without really knowing they were anime (stupid me). But I’d say that my first ever official anime would have to be… (drum roll please?)… Sailor Moon! (Woohoo!) High-five to all the Sailor Moon fans out there! (um.. what?)

I love Sailor Moon. It holds a special place in my heart, since it is my first ever anime (duh!). In my opinion, it’s one of the best anime series and probably the most popular. Don’t get me wrong. It’s not perfect by any means. There are many flaws and inconsistencies with the story, and what with the miserable fight scenes, but I can overlook those. I’ve also watched Sailor Moon R and S, and they are all just classics. For me, it’s just entertaining to watch, especially with a good range of characters and their occasional humor. By the way, I don’t have any favorite character. I like them all! Hah!
