What to do???

Okay! Here is the problem.. I honestly don't know what to do with my blog anymore. I admit, I am feeling kind of lazy lately. Add to that my college requirements and all. Burnout! This sucks! I feel like such a loser right now...

So.. I think I'm not gonna be posting for a while, then we'll see what happens.

Subbed or Dubbed Anime?

Which do you think is better? Subbed or dubbed?

If you asks me, I would definitely say subbed for sure. Why, you ask? Below are several reasons why I prefer anime series subbed than dubbed:

  1. Come on! It’s the original! Originals are way better! Period.

  2. The beautiful Japanese language.

  3. The voice actors in Japan are AMAZING.

  4. The original voices fit so well with the characters.

  5. Do not sound scripted or fake.

  6. Feels more natural.

  7. No awkward and wrong pronunciation of Japanese words.

  8. Wide range of feelings and emotions.

  9. Gets to learn some basic Japanese words and phrases.

  10. Pretty close translations (more accurate)

  11. Japanese male voices are hotter.

  12. More subbed anime series available to watch than dubbed series.

Would I consider watching them dubbed? Yes. Of course. BUT only when it’s done really well.

So what do you prefer? Subbed or dubbed? Take your pick and answer the poll.

Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers!

It’s been a while huh…? XD Well, I’ve been busy lately. It’s back to school again. ^_^

Go go power rangers! Oh the memories.. LSS (Last song syndrome) XD

Nostalgia! Damn it! This just makes me miss my childhood even more now.. (I feel like crying) My gosh. Don’t you just miss them? It’s been so long already! Whew! I’m just so happy I grew up in the 90’s. For me, the 90’s were the best, especially the TV shows. ;)

Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers was really the most epic show ever for kids, and even for adults during the 90’s. I remember watching every episode of it with my brothers and cousins. We would argue over which one of us is the pink ranger, the yellow ranger, black ranger, blue ranger, red ranger, and green ranger, and I would always tell them that I was the pink ranger. (LOL) Come on! Pink ranger or Kimberly was so cool! I’m straight, but I have to say, Amy Jo Johnson was hot. I think I might even had a girl crush on her.. ;) She kicked ass too! Hah! So yes. She was my favorite ranger on Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers. Other than the pink ranger, I also had a huge crush on Tommy, the green ranger (white ranger in the movie). Jason Frank = hot! He is so awesome! Way better than Jason, the red ranger in my opinion.. (To each his own) ^_^

I’ve also watched Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers: The Movie, and it became one of my favorite movies ever! My gosh.. I love watching the movie when I was a kid. The original power rangers were the best! Hands down. I do still watch the new Power Rangers on Cartoon Network, but it’s not as great or as epic as the original. (sigh) I wish I have a time machine to rewind back to my childhood days (the good times…) and relive the 90’s once more. Or…. I wish there will be a new Mighty Morphin Power Rangers movie in the near future that is as awesome as the original.. maybe by 2012. We’ll never know. Oh well. Till next time then. But just let me say this here: “It’s morphin’ time!”

Tokimeki Memorial Girl’s Side 2nd Kiss

Look what I’m playing…3It’s Tokimeki Memorial Girl’s Side 2nd Kiss! Yeah.. If you’ve already played Tokimeki Memorial Girl’s Side 1st Season, then you probably already know this game. I think it’s safe to say that Tokimeki Memorial Girl’s Side (all series), is one of the most popular, if not THE most popular otome game out there. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, well, Tokimeki Memorial Girl’s Side 2nd Kiss is a dating game by Konami where you play the heroine who returns to her hometown to start high school where she meets all these cute guys and tries to get their confessions on graduation day. This game has two versions. One for PS2, and the other for Nintendo DS. (I’m playing the Nintendo DS version)

It’s been a while since I’ve played this otome game. I’ve finished playing Hikami’s route and got all 5 endings of his, but then I stopped playing for a while, because to be honest, the game is too long and it was difficult at times to keep raising the parameters of the heroine to get all of the guys’ 5 different endings. (Hard, right?) Anyway, it’s our semestral break, so since I’ve got nothing else to do, I decided to play this again and try my best to finish it.

I honestly like this game. I just don’t like that it takes too long to finish it, especially with so many different endings. The main attraction are the guys though. They are seriously hot! Well, mostly. There is one that looks like a girl and the other a child… (I mean, really???) That aside, there are 8 main guys: Saeki Teru, Shiba Katsumi (my favorite!), Hikami Itaru, Wakaouji Takafumi, Christopher Weatherfield, Hariya Kounoushin, Amachi Shouta, and Masaki Motoharu (second favorite).

In addition to the 8 main guys, there are also 3 secret characters: Akagi Kazuyuki, Komori Taku, and Majima Tarou

untitledfdg4545 Like I said, my favorite guy is Shiba. Hey..What can I say? He’s hot, and there is just something about him that makes  him so mysterious. (Just my type of guy ^_^) Plus, he’s so manly, probably the most manly out of all the guys.(swoon)shibaJust look at him! (Oh my…)  I actually haven’t played his route yet. Save the best for last I guess. As of now though, I’m playing Saeki’s route.

4l;As you can see in the image above, there is an added feature called skinship for the Nintendo DS version where you can use your stylus to touch the guys. In other words, “molesting” them. (LOL) Anyway, I like Saeki too.. But still Shiba for the win! I can’t wait to play his route! (Excited!)

So I guess that’s it. For those of you who,  like me,  enjoy playing dating games or otome games, you should try this out. It’s a very nice game. You’re gonna love it for sure. That said, I’m off to continue playing this game, and hopefully finish it all as soon as possible!

Ranma 1/2 (TV)

This! One of my favorite anime series of all time! Ranma 1/2 is, in summary, about a teenage martial artist, Saotome Ranma, who turns into a pig-tailed girl whenever he gets in contact with cold water while warm water changes him back into a guy again.

Ranma 1/2 is not for everyone I think. If you don’t have a sense of humor then this probably will not appeal to you (too bad), because it involves gender-bender, and is a true comedy at that with some little action and romance mixed in. (There are some slight violence and nudity, but nothing too explicit) The story doesn’t really go anywhere. It doesn’t focus on a main plot, but more on the development of the characters and their relationship with each other. Speaking of relationship, I find this anime to be weird but really interesting at the same time, especially with the crazy love triangles. It’s like everyone is in love with someone else! In Ranma’s case, he seems to attract both guys and girls (woah!). But hey! I’m not complaining here. I actually really enjoy it. I especially like the Ranma-Akane-Ryoga love triangle. (oh P-Chan..) Akane is such a tomboy, always fighting with Ranma which just makes it much more enjoyable to watch. I love it when Ranma gets jealous over Akane. Ryoga is a cool guy, but I’m pro Ranma on this. So I vote for Ranma-Akane. It’s obvious that they like each other.

Dragon Ball Z (Classic)

Dragon Ball Z! Wow! Where should I start? Well, I guess most of you already know about this anime series huh… (obviously) I mean, who doesn’t? It’s considered a classic comedy and action anime. Who could ever forget their “Kamehameha Waves”? Man.. It’s definitely a personal favorite of mine and probably most of yours too. Even though I’m a girl, *wink* I remember imitating the “Kamehameha Wave” move when I was still a kid. (Sigh.. Those were the days.)

It was actually kind of accidental on how I got started watching Dragon Ball Z. I had nothing to do and so was just watching TV. I was changing the channels when I stumble upon this anime. I didn’t know what it was at that time, but thought it was cool and interesting with all the character’s big muscles (yummy) and great fight scenes. After that, the rest is history. I got hooked and been a fan ever since.

To be honest, I haven’t actually watched the original Dragon Ball. I’m not really a fan of little Goku. (Hate me all you want, but it’s the truth) Among all the series, Dragon Ball Z is my favorite and is my first experience or taste with the Dragon Ball anime series. I like all the characters, but my favorite out of all would have to be Gohan. I can’t help it. He’s just really handsome and so dreamy (squeal). You see, when I’m going to watch an anime, I want it to be well drawn and the characters or at least the main characters to be good looking. Otherwise, I don’t care to watch it. Well, there are some exceptions, but I’d really prefer good-looking characters that can give life to a story. That’s just my opinion. I realize it’s the story that’s important (I know), but I don’t care. I’m different. :)

My First Anime

My first anime.. You’re probably thinking “Who cares?” Well I care! (Sorry.. I told you I’m weird). Anyway, I’m not sure what my first anime was. I think I’ve been watching them all the time without really knowing they were anime (stupid me). But I’d say that my first ever official anime would have to be… (drum roll please?)… Sailor Moon! (Woohoo!) High-five to all the Sailor Moon fans out there! (um.. what?)

I love Sailor Moon. It holds a special place in my heart, since it is my first ever anime (duh!). In my opinion, it’s one of the best anime series and probably the most popular. Don’t get me wrong. It’s not perfect by any means. There are many flaws and inconsistencies with the story, and what with the miserable fight scenes, but I can overlook those. I’ve also watched Sailor Moon R and S, and they are all just classics. For me, it’s just entertaining to watch, especially with a good range of characters and their occasional humor. By the way, I don’t have any favorite character. I like them all! Hah!

Welcome To My Blog!

Finally! My own anime/game blog! This is cool, but kind of daunting and exciting at the same time. I’m not really sure how to start, but here goes. I’m Lyn, and you can refer to me as Halcyon. I’m just a girl who is kind of weird, and who loves everything anime. Don’t you just think it’s such a cool and interesting topic to talk about? Of course you do! I could talk all day about all my favorite anime and manga. That is why I decided to start a blog, to do some slight review (just slight) and share with you guys my thoughts and opinions on whatever anime I’ve watched, am watching, or will watch. Actually, this blog is not just about anime and manga, I’ll also be mixing in some cartoons, comics, and games that I like.

I’m quite new to blogging, and so it’s still an experiment at present, but this basically is mainly just for fun. The anime genres that I love watching are romance or romantic comedy, shōjo and mystery. Other genres that I like are adventure, fantasy, magic, horror, action and music. I’m not a big fan of the ecchi genre, but if the story is good, then I’ll be glad to make an exception. Another thing is, I’m definitely not into hentai, yaoi or yuri. Ewwww… They’re just disgusting. So now you know what I’ll be blogging about. Feel free to comment here or follow me if you want. If not, well, I could care less! (hmmm.. that’s not right) Ok fine! I do care! You’re happy now?! Just come visit again.
